University for applied sciences of Saarland (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes - HTW) "Engineers for Saarland (SaarIng)”
The ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG supports the project of the University of Applied Sciences of Saarland (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes - HTW) in cooperation with Vigo University, Spain, and Saarland companies in the field of advanced intercultural and professional training with a view to securing a trained workforce and specialists.
Linguistic, cultural and professional qualification activities for 15 – 20 graduates per year from the fields of electrical, mechanical and business engineering from Vigo University. These measures are implemented at the Saarland HTW and in several Saarland companies with the objective of offering the young people a permanent job after the end of their training.
Starting situation: Shortage of skilled staff in the technical sector
In a few years, the demographic gap threatens to cause a shortage of up to 10 million skilled staff.
Already today, half of the engineers employed in Saarland are in their mid-fifties.
Only 30% of the companies in Germany have no problem filling job vacancies in the technical sector.
Currently, an insufficient number of electrical and mechanical engineers specialized in development and construction as well as business engineers are available to the market.
The ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG supports projects, events and (qualification) activities in line with its purpose laid down in the charter of the foundation.
The funding principles provide information about the eligibility conditions for potential support by the foundation.
