Arno-Krause-Prize of the ASKO Europa-Stiftung
The Europa Institute's semester opening ceremony on November 3, 2025, in the auditorium of Saarland University provided the special setting for the presentation of the Arno Krause Prize for the 10th time this year.
Marco Wölflinger, spokesperson for the board of the ASKO Europa-Stiftung, presented the certificates to the winning teams.
The Arno Krause Prize was awarded as a team prize to three groups of students at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University:
Under the leadership of Professor Dr. Marc Bungenberg and Xenia Astapenka, the team—consisting of Lisa Vita Landes, Lisabeth Toft Tomter, Sara D'Arcy Shepherd, and William Wulff—delivered outstanding performances at the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot, which took place in Berlin in November 2024. Another team took part in the renowned Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna in April 2025, accompanied and supported by coaches Professor Helmuth Rüssmann and Dr. Elinam de Souza. The team that took part in EuroSim in Antwerp in early January 2025 – a simulation of European decision-making processes that takes place alternately at American and European universities – also showed impressive commitment.
Since 2016, the Foundation has awarded its own prize - the Arno Krause Prize - for the best achievements of graduates of the Master's program "European and International Law" at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University. With its prize, the foundation honors outstanding achievements in the world's largest transnational competitions VISMoot and FDI Moot for international business law and arbitration as well as EuroSim, the world's largest simulation of European decision-making processes. In all three awards university teams from all over the world compete against each other under the guidance of academic mentors and team leaders.
Awarding of the Excellence Prizes to the best graduates of the integrated binational and trinational degree programmes
At the festive award ceremony for the DFH Excellence Awards 2026 in Paris, Alicia Langfeld, a graduate of the Political Science – Affaires Européennes / Affaires Internationales program (Freie Universität Berlin / Sciences Po Paris), was presented with the Excellence Award by our board member Stéphanie Bruel. Ms. Langfeld impressed with her academic excellence and exceptional intercultural skills. Her studies in Germany and France embody the European spirit of exchange – and show how essential mutual understanding is for successful cross-border cooperation in Europe.
Since 2002, the DFH Excellence Awards have been presented annually to graduates of DFH-supported degree programmes who have proven their professional and intercultural excellence through outstanding degrees or special merits. They also pursue the goal of stimulating the exchange between business and young academics. The prizes are sponsored by companies and institutions from various sectors.
Since 2015, the ASKO Europa-Stiftung has annually donated one of the Excellence Awards to a graduate of a Franco-German degree course.
